The Museum

The aim of the Combined Military Services Museum is to display artefacts from Britain’s proud military history, for the education and enjoyment of both present and future generations. The museum is fully air conditioned and the collections are kept in high quality display cases, providing a comfortable experience for visitors and a stable environment for the preservation of the artefacts..

The museum houses only genuine period items and takes great care to ensure the accuracy and detail of all its displays. There are many items of national importance on display, that cannot be seen in any other museum.

The displays show the everyday combat equipment and weaponry used by the British armed forces. These clearly show the lifestyles and burdens of the troops, who could often be sent into combat so heavily laden with equipment, as to be barely able to walk, let alone fight.

The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday and every Bank Holiday Monday. During school holidays the museum is open every day. Opening hours are 10.30am to 5pm with last admissions at 4pm. Please allow 2-3 hours for your visit.
